SKIER'S EDGE

Info & Training Tips

Smart Training

Skiing is lateral. Every turn, every edge, every move is side-to-side. Most skiers train everything except the way skiing actually moves. Our machines target the specific muscles, ligaments, and joints that standard gym equipment never touches, building the balance and control that keeps you on your edges instead of on your backside. Ski longer. Recover faster. Get back out there the next morning and do it again.

That's why you'll find our machines in ski team training rooms across the world as well as NHL, NFL, MLS, MLB, and NBA. These athletes depend on split-second decisions and explosive lateral movements to stay at the top. They use our equipment because it works, building the speed, stability, and durability that shows up when the game is on the line. Whether you're training for the pros or just want to perform like one, you're using the same technology trusted by the best.

Training Ideas

Build technique, speed, strength and stamina with multiple ways to train.

Push hard for 20-30 seconds, then rest for 1-2 minutes. Repeat until your legs are screaming. This builds the stamina and strength to ski top to bottom without stopping.

Sprint Intervals

Tighten your stance, bend your knees, and use the bar for leverage while keeping your upper body completely still. All the work goes straight to your legs. You'll feel exactly which muscles power your performance.

Narrow Stance Leg Focus

Drop the machine into your HIIT circuit to spike your heart rate. It's a full-body burn that builds cardio endurance without the joint-pounding impact of box jumps or burpees.

HIIT Circuit

Hover your hands just above the Assistant Coach Bar without grabbing it. You'll force your core and stabilizer muscles to work overtime, building the balance that keeps you in control when everyone else is flailing.

Balance Challenge

Find a sustainable pace and hold it for 20+ minutes of continuous movement. You'll build the kind of stamina that keeps you strong.

Extended Cardio

Set the machine to its widest stance, crank the resistance, and push as hard as you can for 2-3 minutes. Multiple sets of this will build serious leg strength and mental toughness.

Skier's Edge FAQ

How does Skier's Edge improve my skiing?

Skier's Edge is your secret weapon for mastering the mountain. It zeroes in on lateral movements - the essence of downhill skiing.

By enhancing your balance, coordination, and side-to-side strength, it targets muscles that standard gym equipment overlooks.

Plus, it mimics the rapid-fire movements of skiing, preparing you for those exhilarating downhill runs like nothing else can.

Which muscles does Skier's Edge target?

Prepare for a full-body workout! Skier's Edge engages a wide range of muscles, including:

  • Glutes (maximus, medius, minimus)
  • Quads and hamstrings
  • Hip flexors, rotators and adductors
  • Core (abs and obliques)
  • Lower back
  • Calves
  • Pelvic floor

It's like a personal trainer for your skiing muscles, all in one machine.

How can Skier's Edge help me bounce back from an injury?

For nearly four decades, Skier's Edge has been the go-to rehab tool for professional athletes, trainers, and physical therapists. Here's why it's your ally in recovery:

  • Low-Impact Training: Gentle on joints while still providing an effective workout.
  • Lateral Stability Booster: Strengthens muscles crucial for side-to-side stability, helping to support joints and prevent future injuries.
  • Hip and Core Powerhouse: Rebuilds strength in these vital areas for proper movement.
  • Flexibility Enhancer: Improves range of motion in a controlled, safe manner.
  • Hockey-Specific Training: Strengthens skating muscles, building confidence for your return.
  • Customizable Intensity: Easily adjustable to match your recovery needs.
  • Cardio Kick: Maintain fitness without overstraining healing tissues.
  • Symmetry Builder: Encourages balanced muscle engagement to prevent compensatory patterns.
  • Neural Training: Retrains your brain-muscle connection for better coordination.
  • Technique Improvement: Develops awareness and strength for proper form.

Remember: While Skier's Edge is a powerful rehab tool, always consult with a medical professional before starting any recovery program. Listen to your body, start slow, and prioritize proper form to ensure a safe and effective comeback.

Can the whole family use the Skier's Edge?

Absolutely! Thanks to adjustable resistance settings, Skier's Edge welcomes skiers of all sizes.

While the Base footpads are adjustable and good for the whole family, we especially recommend multi-user households upgrade to either our Performance footpads or the BootMaster. With seven stance widths and a quick-adjustment mechanism (settings change in 20 seconds or less!), the Performance footpads and the BootMaster each make it a breeze for kids and adults to share the same machine.

While younger users might not reach full extension initially, they'll still reap the benefits and grow with the machine.

Bonus: Skier's Edge isn't just for ski buffs. Its lateral training is a game-changer for hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis, pickleball, and more. It's your family's ticket to year-round athletic excellence.

How often should I use my Skier's Edge?

The Skier's Edge offers an intense, ski-specific workout that you'll feel right away.

As your strength and endurance improve, you'll be able to increase both the intensity and duration of your sessions. Many of our dedicated users train daily, thanks to the low-impact nature of the workout.

Listen to your body, maintain proper form, and you'll be able to train as often as you like without overstressing your joints. Remember, consistency is key to seeing real improvements on the slopes!

Maintenance FAQ

What's the best way to keep my machine in top shape?

Maintaining your machine is a breeze:

  • Wipe down metal surfaces with a damp cloth
  • Use a mild detergent for tougher spots if needed

That's it! Our machines are designed for peak performance with minimal fuss.

Do I need to oil or condition any parts? What about other maintenance?

Good news - our machines are as low-maintenance as they are high-performance.

No need for oiling, conditioning, or complex upkeep routines. Just give your Power Bands, wheels, and rollers a quick once-over periodically, and you're all set to train.

We've designed these machines to spend more time boosting your performance and less time needing your attention. It's all part of our commitment to helping you gain your edge, hassle-free.

How durable are the Power Bands?

Our machines are built to last, featuring a robust five-Power Band system that keeps you secure and supported during every training session.

Our Power Bands are:

  • Backed by our standard and extended warranties
  • Designed for years of intense training
  • Made and rigorously tested in the USA for your peace of mind

New machines come with a 4-year warranty on Power Bands. When you purchase a replacement set, they also come with a fresh 4-year warranty.

While they're built tough, Power Bands do naturally wear over time. We recommend a quick visual check for cracks, tears, or pits before each use. And don't worry. We've got your back with replacement Power Bands available for all our machines.
